Solar Update - August 2024

Solar PanelsSolar Update

Our first full August with the panels has given us comparable totals to June and July which was nice to see. We consumed 505kWh and exported 132kWh which is 637kWh for this month. Our import was a bit higher than any other summer months but that could be due to us needing to charge the car for some extra trips we needed to make. Nearly 200kWh was imported between 2 and 4 am which is when I usually try to charge the car for the cheaper tariff.

As this is now a full year that we have had the panels I want to start doing a comparison to the previous years totals. But rather than lump all in to the one post I might create a separate post for these comparisons but I will see how it goes. I might come back and update this post instead. Going by my calculations, over the last 12 months (September 2023 to August 2024) we have generated 5419.80kWh which is a good bit better than the yearly estimate of 4897kWh. We will have to see what our calendar generation is by the end of the year.

Broken Even
kWh Consumed 4441.38
kWh Exported 1106.36
Total kWh Produced 5547.74
Price per kWh €2.05
